Porcelain Veneers

This is a thin shell of porcelain that your dentist will bond to the front of your front teeth to make them look better. The enamel on the front areas of your teeth is worn over time, and this causes them to be discolored or stained. This can happen when drinking coffee, tea, soda, or wine. Additionally, the grinding of the teeth or the clenching of the jaw can cause the tooth enamel to wear away. Over time, this can cause you to look older than your actual age. At Gardens Dental Spa, a veneer is a shell of porcelain that can be bonded to a tooth to improve the tooth's color, shape, size, and overall appearance.

The Benefits of Porcelain Veneers

  • They cover chips or cracks in teeth
  • They help with color matching and masking stains that cannot be removed using more conventional methods
  • They are durable enough to withstand the natural biting pressure of the teeth without becoming damaged themselves
  • They can be custom-fit to the shape of the patient’s teeth for a truly natural look and appearance
  • They are easy to care for and maintain, making them a practical option for many patients
  •  They are stain-resistant to keep your smile bright!

The Procedure for Porcelain Veneers

First, your dentist will lightly buff the tooth to roughen the surface and make room for the veneer. A model or impression of your tooth will also be created and sent to the lab to fabricate your personalized porcelain veneers. Before leaving the office, your dentist will apply temporary veneers to protect the tooth while the permanent ones are manufactured. The lab usually takes about two weeks to craft your final restorations. In the meantime, you’ll wear the temporary veneers until it’s time for you to return to the office to have your permanent ones bonded into place.

Once your permanent veneers are ready, bonding them is relatively simple. First, the teeth will be cleaned and prepped to ensure a strong bond. Your dentist will then use a shade guide to pick the shade of cement that most closely matches the color of your teeth and then apply it to the surface of each veneer. The cement is then dried using a special light to help it cure more quickly. Once the adhesive has cured entirely, and you are satisfied with how each one looks, the dentist will use a unique tool to place a small amount of pressure along the sides to help the cement bond securely to the tooth. The final step is to remove the excess cement and check your bite to ensure it feels even and natural. That’s it! You leave our office with a beautiful new smile that will turn heads.
